Who We Are
Leading the Pacific Northwest in Sustainable Recycling Since 1991
Three Decades of Responsible Recycling Solutions
For over 30 years, Total Reclaim has responsibly served thousands of organizations throughout the Pacific Northwest by utilizing innovative techniques and advanced technologies to provide environmentally sound recycling and reuse solutions of hard-to-handle materials such as: electronics, domestic and commercial appliances, HVAC units, refrigerant gases, batteries of all chemistries and types, and all mercury and non-mercury bearing lamps.
Domestic Appliance Recycling
In 1991, Total Reclaim opened a facility dedicated to decommissioning unwanted appliances/white goods. Throughout the years, Total Reclaim has collected white goods from residents, variety of different types of businesses, non-profits, municipal transfer stations and through special collection events for numerous county and city waste agencies. To this day, through these programs, Total Reclaim decommissions over 20,000 appliances annually.
In 1994, Total Reclaim was awarded a Washington Department of Ecology Pollution Prevention Grant to author a report entitled “Small-Scale Technologies to Remove and Manage Refrigerants and Compressors from Discarded Appliances”. A portion of the grant was utilized to conduct seminars for refrigeration technicians around Washington in the proper management of ozone depleting substances.
HVAC Equipment Recycling
Also created in 1991, Total Reclaim's industrial refrigeration recycling program provides comprehensive recycling to the commercial refrigeration industry, including on-site recovery of refrigerant gases from roof-top air conditioning systems, high speed recovery of refrigerants from fishing vessels and other industrial sites, as well as transportation of HVAC systems and refrigeration units for decommissioning at our facilities.
Pacific Northwest's First EPA Certified Reclaimer of Refrigerant Gases
In 1994, Total Reclaim became the first EPA certified of refrigerant gases in the Pacific Northwest and to this day remain a trusted vendor on long-standing contracts with Washington and Oregon agencies.
Pioneers in Mercury Lamp Recycling
In 1996, recognizing the need for proper management and recycling of mercury bearing lighting waste, Total Reclaim created a sister company, EcoLights Northwest, LLC. In recognition of the pioneering work in bringing fluorescent lamp recycling to the Pacific Northwest, Total Reclaim was named the Recycling Company of the Year by the Washington State Recycling Association in 1997.
In 2001, EcoLights was awarded the first Washington State contract for recycling mercury bearing lamps generated by state agencies and political subdivisions. And in 2014, EcoLights contracted with the stewardship program operator, Product Care Associates from British Columbia, Canada to act as the sole recycler of mercury bearing lamps under the Light Recycle Washington program.
EcoLights continues to recycle over 1 million mercury bearing lamps per year for the stewardship program, demonstrating the overwhelming popularity among residents and small businesses
First Monitor & Television Recycler in the Pacific Northwest
In 1999, Total Reclaim became the first monitor and television recycler in the Pacific Northwest with the establishment of an electronics recycling program. Over the past 20 years, Total Reclaim has increased capacity and incorporated mechanized grinding and separation equipment to create a state-of-the-art electronics recycling facility. At the same time, the company worked hard to create environmentally sound and cost-effective recycling programs for a wide variety of electronic devices.
With processing hubs in Seattle and Portland and active work throughout Alaska, we support municipalities, schools, and businesses across the Pacific Northwest.
